The plastic packaging Committee of China Packaging Federation held an information exchange Symposium on BOPET film industry in Beijing on August 30, 2005. 35 representatives from the production enterprises attended the meeting. This paper discusses the current development status, existing problems and Countermeasures of BOPET film, and is willing to enlighten peers
at present, the development momentum of BOPET film is too strong. Since 2003, nearly 30 new production lines have been added in just over two years, with a new capacity of more than 400000 tons. It is expected that by the end of 2005, the production capacity will reach 650000 tons, and in 2006, it will reach 700000 tons. The development is overheated, and the market supply exceeds demand has formed. Under the guidance of macro-control policies, several lines have cancelled the signed contracts and withdrew from the market by themselves, such as Foshan Southern Packaging Company, Jilin Meihekou Dianhua aluminum plant, Shantou Jixiang company, etc., but they are still not optimistic. They should strive to develop new application markets, enhance the international market, and reduce the pressure of strong surplus. This is the theme of this meeting. Next, let's talk about the current situation, problems and Countermeasures of BOPET film:
I. current situation of the industry
according to the recent incomplete statistics, there are 35 BOPET film production enterprises in China, with a total of 56 production lines, including 7 domestic lines, 47 imported production lines and 2 business recruitment. Among the introduced production lines, there are 26 from Bruckner, 10 from DMT, 5 from Donnell, 3 from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and 3 from Toshiba steel. Most of these equipment represent the international advanced level, with high degree of automation, accurate control accuracy, wide winding width and fast line speed (from 3.6 m, 4.6 m * 250 m/min, 350 m/min, to 6.7 m * 400 m/min, and then to 8.7 m * 400 m/min), which has promoted the change of the whole industry. From the perspective of geographical distribution, the capacity of BOPET is mainly distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shanghai, Shandong, Tianjin, Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Liaoning, Hebei and Sichuan provinces, which will promote the process of functionalization and high-performance of modified nylon, and the regional development is uneven. Zhejiang Province alone has 13 lines with a production capacity of 240000 tons, accounting for 34%; 13 in Jiangsu Province, 128000 tons, accounting for 18%; There are 8 lines in Guangdong, with a capacity of 82800 tons, accounting for 11.8; There are four lines in Shanghai, with 41000 tons, accounting for 6%; Shandong has four lines, with 59800 tons, accounting for 8.5%, and the above five provinces and cities account for 78.3% of the total production capacity. However, the Great Northwest is a blank area. These areas have large market demand and difficulties in production capacity. Therefore, the prospect of developing the Northwest market is very broad
second, the structural contradiction of product consumption is prominent
at the end of 2004, the production capacity was 450000 tons, the output was 220000 tons, about 40000 tons were imported through various channels, and the actual consumption was 260000 tons. Among them, packaging materials (including composite packaging film, bronzing film, vacuum aluminizing film, etc.) account for 65%, special film for capacitors 15%, photosensitive materials 10%, audio-visual 5%, and card protection film 5%. It can be seen that the largest market consumption of BOPET is packaging materials, and the largest use of packaging film is color printing composite, that is, pet/aluminum foil/pe (CPP), which is applied to milk powder, tea, biscuits, snack foods, etc. At the same time, the application of BOPET aluminized film markets cooking food and microwave oven food. With the improvement of people's living standards and the acceleration of the pace of work, the BOPET market continues to expand. It is expected that the production capacity will reach 650000 tons this year, and the output will reach 300000 tons. By 2006, after all the existing production lines are put into operation, the production capacity will reach 700000 tons. It is predicted that in 2006, the market demand will be 350000-400000 tons, only half of the capacity of BOPET. Therefore, the situation of overcapacity, structural contradictions will be very prominent, market saturation, oversupply, and a major decline in economic benefits is worthy of your consideration. We will discuss the countermeasures to be taken
III. countermeasures
1 Standardize the market, create a good market environment, and prevent low-level price competition
take technological innovation as the driving force, improve the core competitiveness of enterprises, and make enterprises have long-term vitality. With advanced equipment, we must also have high-tech talents to manage and operate. The task of digestion and absorption is very arduous, and the top priority is to develop new products and application markets, vigorously develop differentiated products, and develop functional films
2. Application market development
bopet as a new material, its application field is still expanding. Making full use of the excellent and non-toxic properties of BOPET is in line with the requirements of developing green packaging and environmental protection. Guiding consumption will surely make the application field of polyester film more extensive. At present, the state is formulating the approval regulations for food and food packaging materials, implementing the access system, and PVC sheets will be phased out for direct packaging of food and drugs. Therefore, the appropriate development of BOPET sheets will be a good opportunity. Foshan, Fuzhou and other regions have identified this market, and are introducing sheet equipment and expanding the market, which is worth thinking about. In addition, we should vigorously develop the Northwest market
3. Strive to develop new BOPET products with special functions
with the continuous expansion of the application field of BOPET, higher requirements are put forward for its performance, that is, to give new functions, so that the demand for BOPET continues to increase. At present, new products are being developed and produced at home and abroad, including high-strength film, high transparency film, matte film, colored film, antistatic film, surface conductive film, flame retardant film, light resistant film, barrier gas film, heat sealing film, heat shrinkable film, etc. Enterprises can selectively develop special special moulds as the product development direction according to their own conditions, technical strength and market demand. Differentiated products have become the development strategy of Hangzhou Dahua plastics company. It has successfully developed a series of new products and achieved obvious benefits, effectively avoiding the competition of similar products, which is worth learning from
according to the needs of domestic beer and beverage bottle packaging, it is worth paying attention to that the heat shrinkable film will have a broad market prospect. In 2004, China's beverages reached 23million tons. In particular, cola bottles are changing the labeling method. Instead, color printing heat shrinkable film is used to decorate the packaging containers to protect the surface of the bottles from being scratched, which can also reduce costs. BOPS heat shrinkable film is emerging and has begun to be used. Both BOPET heat shrinkable film and PET bottles are raw materials of the same nature, which is more conducive to recycling treatment. It is worth paying high attention to and actively developing the market
4. Realize branding and enhance export capacity
see the export market from the current situation and demand of international BOPET film
according to relevant data reports, the world's demand for polyester film was 1.686 million tons in 2004. It is predicted that in 2005, there will be more than 250 BOPET production lines, with a production capacity of 2.78 million tons and a social demand of 1.7 million tons. In the next five years, the global total demand will increase by an annual average of 6.1%. Tape film was once the main use of polyester film, and it is expected to continue to decline in the next five years. The production of tape film in the United States, Japan and Europe will gradually shift to packaging and industrial film. DuPont film and Toray are currently the largest film producers (with a production capacity of 300000 tons), while Mitsubishi film and SKC have a production capacity of 150000 to 180000 tons. In 2004, the production capacity of these four companies accounted for 48% of the world's total production capacity. Due to China's largest investment, it is predicted that the proportion of these four companies will fall to 38% by 2009
in 2005, the global demand was 1.7 million tons, including 450000 tons in the Americas, 340000 tons in Japan, 310000 tons in China, 150000 tons in India and 140000 tons in South Korea. The demand growth was fastest in China, India and ASEAN countries. Recently, the demand of Russia, Turkey, Iran, Syria and other countries showed strong growth, with relatively large development space. The above information shows that the global production capacity of BOPET film has exceeded the demand, and trade barriers are inevitable. According to Dr. Feng Xiaohai, it is required to avoid price wars in exports, vigorously explore the markets of developed countries such as Japan, the United States and the European Union, and vigorously explore the market development and research of ASEAN, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Syria and other countries. To increase exports, the key is to work hard to realize the brand, cultivate their own international marketing team, learn WTO rules well, and enhance their competitiveness in the international market
5. Re integrate and enhance the vitality of the association
with the approval of the China Packaging Federation, the "flexible plastic packaging industry joint center" has held its inaugural meeting in Guilin in March 2005. The purpose of "flexible plastic packaging industry joint center" is to strengthen industry coordination, realize the cooperation of enterprises in the industry through information exchange, jointly cope with difficulties and market challenges, establish a benign market competition environment, and achieve win-win and common development. According to the speech of President Tong Aiping at the conference, the "joint center" should focus on six tasks:
(1) jointly deal with the existing raw material suppliers, understand the supply dynamics of raw materials, strengthen the connection with major international and domestic raw materials, and reduce the procurement cost
(2) jointly form an industrial chain of composite film, color printing film, aluminized film, substrate and related products, exchange information and improve integrity
(3) jointly promote the localization of spare parts for imported equipment
(4) member units should build on a highly innovative foundation, operate in good faith and compete in good faith
(5) regularly organize industry information exchange meetings
(6) widely carry out technical exchange activities of new products, new technologies and new equipment
the daily work of the "joint center" is set up in the plastic packaging Committee. Due to the limitations of objective conditions, the association is not perfect, but under the existing opportunities and systems, it cannot be set up in a certain enterprise for the time being. We will try our best. In addition, we will not be voluntary, and the society has become very loose. Which enterprise we choose depends on ourselves. The key lies in the attractiveness and cohesion of the association. Whether it can do practical things for enterprises and serve member enterprises is the key. The main focus of the work is to investigate and study, put forward suggestions on the development direction and industrial policies of the plastic packaging industry, and submit them to relevant government departments for reference; Coordinate the relationship between upstream and downstream enterprises, and coordinate the work related to export products from the company's competitor Tianqi lithium; Formulate industry standards; Organize technical exchanges and carry out personnel technical training; Run the magazine plastic packaging and "China plastic packaging information" well, and provide an information exchange platform for enterprises. In the second half of this year, there are several industry activities that need your participation and support:
(1) prepare to hold the World Packaging Conference in Beijing from April 18 to 20, 2006, and hold the award ceremony of World Star packaging products. At that time, packaging entrepreneurs and technical experts from all over the world will gather in Beijing to discuss the development trend of the packaging industry and exchange the latest scientific and technological achievements under the theme of "science and technology, environmental protection, cooperation and development"
(2) in combination with the packaging conference, the China Packaging Federation will carry out the activities of selecting China's leading packaging enterprises, China's outstanding packaging entrepreneurs, China's famous packaging products and the National Advanced Packaging Association. We hope you will actively participate in it and report the list of recommendations to the China Packaging Federation before October 31, 2005
(3) do a good job in standardization and apply for industry standard work in 2006. This work has begun, and we hope to attract attention and actively participate in it
(4) the Ministry of finance has agreed below to support high-tech R & D funds in the packaging industry, which is an unprecedented major measure. Enterprises should actively take advantage of this preferential condition, seize the opportunity and develop high
